Dominic Touwen in collaboration with Michael Chandler and Jeremy Smith opened the doors of Chandler House
in 2012 and it has rapidly become known as a treasure trove of beautiful wares.
Based on the ground floor of 53 Church Street it specialises in interesting antiques, contemporary and Chinese ceramics, decorative paintings and prints, threadbare carpets, fantastic mirrors, eccentric curiosities and a good range of classic furniture.
Michael Chandler curates the collection of ceramics, jewellery, furniture, antiques and artworks by the likes of Welz, Preller, Roworth, Pilkington, Karstel and other 20th Century masters. Other items worth looking at include contemporary beadwork by local design studio Serpentine and Wendy Maclachlan's Homebakes Ceramics studio.
Dominic's life-long fascination with textiles takes him around the world sourcing unique and fascinating fabrics such as block prints from Rajastan, indigoes from West Africa and ikats from Central Asia. There is also a wide range of Suzanis imported by Manina Bauman and fabulous Parisian prints and velvets by Josie Hemingway
The shop is open weekdays weekdays 10am - 5pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm. Please come and visit soon.
