He opened Chandler House his Antiques and Interiors shop with Michael Chandler in 2012 and it has fast become the latest word in glamorous, eccentric interior styling.
With projects ranging from 5 star game lodges, luxury golf estates, wine tasting rooms and restaurants to bespoke country houses and gardens in South Africa, Zambia, the UK and Australia, Dominic Touwen has become one of the leading figures in traditional architecture and interiors both at home and abroad.

Dominic Touwen & Associates is a small, friendly architectural practice based in central Cape Town.
The office specialises in traditional domestic architectural design.
We have a particular interest in country houses and estates with considerable experience in and around the Cape winelands.
The practice is deeply committed to sustainable design within a traditional architectural idiom which is at the same time suitable for contemporary living.
We endeavor to provide an excellent professional service from the first concepts to the final handover
We aim to design buildings that are beautiful, comfortable, robust and timeless.

Dominic Touwen & Associates provides a Landscape Design service in addition to its Architectural Service.
Though the practice specialises in large country gardens and master planning of farmyards and agricultural landscapes we are also experienced in urban gardens.
We believe that the design of the house should be seamlessly integrated with the landscape design so that they form a unified whole.
In keeping with our Architectural practice we have an interest in more traditional landscape design integrating hard landscaping such as pergolas, terraces and walls with mixed planting and the use of interesting varieties to set our gardens apart.
We only work with the most reputable installers to ensure the best product and service.
We aim to design gardens that are classic, gracious and charming.

We have only recently moved into the Interior Design field but are confident that there is a good synergy with our Architectural practice and Chandler House. The boundary between Interior design and Architecture grows ever more blurred.
We are concentrating on more traditional, classic interiors with an eclectic aesthetic as we feel that this is more compatible with local houses and the fascinating historical layering of the Cape.
We have recently completed the interiors of the Royal Zambezi Lodge on the Zambezi River in Zambia and the Pool Room @ Oak Valley
We are committed to designing interiors that are timeless, charming and elegant.
